To support student's college and career readiness Chatsworth Charter High School has many Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways:
CTE is a program of study that involves a multi-year sequence of courses that integrates core academic, technical, and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to post-secondary education and careers. Students must minimally complete a Concentrator and a Capstone course for "pathway completion" (2-year sequence). CCHS CTE provides students real-world, 21st-century career and college readiness skills. We offer unique pathways to distinct industry sectors for our students:
Arts, Media & Entertainment (AME) |
Design, Visual, & Media Arts (DVMA) |
Description: Students will learn the techniques and principles of Graphic Design, which is the art of visual communication in Western society. Students will also learn to use Adobe Illustrator to create projects such as Logo Designs, Informational Posters, and Advertising Campaigns.
Description: Students will learn the first production stage for any animated film, video game, or movie, which is creating concept art. We will focus on Character Design, Animal/Creature Design, and Background Design. Artwork will be drawn by hand and painted on the computer. Additionally, students will build on the skills learned in the first course of drawing by hand and on the computer and apply them to 2D animation. We will learn the fundamentals of frame-by-frame animation and various techniques used in animation since its inception. Students will animate and draw into the computer in various projects, bringing life to characters and backgrounds. CTE Teacher: Jorvic Salazar (email) |

CTE Teacher: Lauren Tyni (email) |
Description: Students watch films critically to learn how a film’s sound and images blend to tell meaningful stories while drawing evidence from informational texts to support their critical analysis. Students collaborate in teams to write, develop, and publish coherent and impactful video projects. They learn technical skills in film development (screenwriting, formatting, and techniques), production (lighting/camera), and post-production (video and audio editing software). CTE Teacher: Chef Ramon Douglas (email) |
Machine & Forming Technology (MFT)
|
Manufacturing & Product Development (MPD) |
Description: This pathway is designed as a survey of machine tool technology. Students focus on traditional machine tool technologies. Coursework includes setup and operation of the engine lathe, the milling machine, the drill press, and sawing and cutoff machines. Additional topics include calculating and setting up speeds, feeds, and measurements. Students considering Machining courses develop strong math fundamentals by learning plotting and mapping coordinates in the CNC processing. Communication and collaboration skills center on working with conventional and CNC machines for the safety of self and others. Students will also learn about three-dimensional (3D) printing - an additive manufacturing process that creates a physical object from a digital design. The process works by laying down thin layers of material in liquid or powdered plastic, metal, or cement and then fusing the layers together. CTE Teacher: Jeff Hill (email) |
