In the continuation of a game suspended Tuesday, the host Chancellors (12-3) defeated Lake Balboa Birmingham, 7-5, today in a West Valley League opener for both teams.
Second baseman Chris Carlin drove in two runs and catcher Sean O'Connell had two hits to back up left-hander Aaron Brown (4-1), right, who struck out five batters in 4-1/3 innings. Right-hander Steven Karkenny picked up his third save.
The game was suspended in the first inning Tuesday when a swarm of bees congregated on a chain-link fence on the third base side.
Junior varsity: The Chancellors defeated host Birmingham, 20-1, in five innings Tuesday behind Kiefer Kofman's one-hitter. Right fielder Tim Han had three hits, including two doubles, and shortstop Scott Voets had two hits and scored four runs.
