LAKE BALBOA -- A three-run outburst in the top of the seventh inning lifted the Chancellors over Lake Balboa Birmingham, 7-6, today in a West Valley League game.
Chatsworth (13-3, 2-0 in league play) started the winning rally when pinch-hitter Justin Davis led off the seventh with a walk and scored on pinch-hitter Adam Baslow's triple to cut the deficit to 6-5.
First baseman Steven Karkenny walked to put runners at the corners, shortstop Brady Conlan drove in Baslow with a groundout to second base that advanced Karkenny to second and catcher Sean O'Connell drove in Karkenny with a single to left field.
O'Connell, right, had three hits and third baseman Ryan Escobar had a two-run double in the first inning.
Karkenny (3-1) struck out four batters in two relief innings.
Junior varsity: Right-handers Chris Schraut and Harsa Prahara combined on a no-hitter to lift the host Chancellors over Birmingham, 12-0, in a game called after 4-1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.
Schraut struck out four batters in four innings.
