RESEDA -- Right-hander Angel Rodriguez (2-0) scattered five hits in six-plus innings and the Chancellors (15-3, 4-0 league play) defeated Cleveland, 4-3, today to sweep the home-and-home West Valley League series.

Right-hander Steven Karkenny picked up his fourth save and had three hits with a run batted in.

Catcher Sean O'Connell, right, had a double and drove in two runs, and pinch-hitter Justin Davis and right fielder Angel Calderon each hit doubles.

The Cavaliers had runners at third base and second base with nobody out in the seventh but O'Connell picked off the runner at third base. Moments later, he cut down a runner who singled to center field and tried to advance to second base on the throw home.

Junior Varsity: The host Chancellors defeated Cleveland, 18-1, in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Ricky Bernal gave up three hits and no earned runs over five innings. Left fielder Raul Camas was three for three, including two doubles, and drove in three runs; second baseman Justin Vega had two hits and four runs batted in; first baseman Mark Fierro was two for two with three RBIs and right fielder Jerry Ismerio was two for two and drove in a run.
