Senior right-hander Daniel Simmons (top photo) gave up three hits and junior center fielder Bobby Coyle (bottom photo) had a single, triple and home run to pace the host Chancellors over L.A. University, 10-0, Saturday in a Chatsworth tournament game called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Junior shortstop Mike Moustakas and sophomore first baseman James Wharton each had a three-run homer for the Chancellors (20-2) in a six-run fourth inning. It was Moustakas' ninth homer this season and 23rd of his career.

Because of the shortened game, Coyle missed hitting for the cycle. The Chancellors scored at least one run in every inning.

It was the third shutout this season for Simmons (4-0) and second in his last three starts.

The first-place Chancellors return to West Valley League play Monday when Birmingham visits for a 3 p.m. game.

JV: The Chancellors defeated Roosevelt, 7-2, behind two home runs by David Whetstone and a complete-game performance by Michael Renner.
