GRANADA HILLS -- Junior right-hander Trent Jones (8-1) gave up one hit, senior left fielder Oliver Padre hit a home run and the Chancellors defeated the Granada Hills Highlanders, 4-0, Thursday in a West Valley League game.

 

Jones (top photo) was in command throughout. Padre (middle photo) put the Chancellors (24-2, overall, 11-1 in WVL play) ahead with a shot over the left-field fence in the first inning. It was his fifth this season and third at Granada Hills.

 

Senior second baseman Oscar Gutierrez drove in a run with a single and the other runs came in on wild pitches.

 

The Chancellors play host to Taft on Friday in a WVL game at 3 p.m.

 

JV Defeats Granada Hills, 7-1: Junior left-hander Troy Cassidy (bottom photo) went the distance and contributed two hits for the host Chancellors (16-4-1, 9-3), who got a home run from sophomore catcher Richard Palacios and two hits, including a double, from sophomore outfielder Patrick O'Connell.

 

The Chancellor JV team plays at Taft on Friday at 3 p.m.
