Senior left fielder Oliver Padre hit a home run and a double, and junior right-hander Trent Jones gave up one hit over four innings to help deliver the Chancellors to their fourth consecutive appearance in the Los Angeles City Section final at Dodger Stadium.
The top-seeded Chancellors (30-2) advanced with a 14-0 victory over No. 12 San Fernando in a semifinal game Tuesday at Chatsworth that was stopped after the top of the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule.
The Chancellors will meet No. 3 Kennedy (25-10), which advanced with a 3-2 win over No. 2 El Camino Real (26-6) at Woodland Hills in the other semifinal. The title game is set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
It is the fourth time the Chancellors, who are on a 12-game winning streak, have won at least 30 games in a season, all since 2001. The Chancellors are looking to tie the 31-2 record of the 2001 team that won the City title. Chatsworth's best record was 35-0 in 2004.
The Chancellors took command against San Fernando in the second inning, scoring seven runs behind run-scoring singles by senior catcher Kyle Barbato, freshman designated hitter Andy Weissberg, junior shortstop Mike Moustakas, junior third baseman Matt Dominguez and junior right fielder Bobby Coyle, and a two-run double off the left-field fence by Padre.
Chatsworth made it 12-0 in the third inning, when Weissberg and Dominguez had run-scoring singles and Padre belted a pitch over the right-center-field fence for a three-run homer, his eighth this season. Padre finished with five runs batted in.
Jones (10-1) struck out six and walked one, and senior right-hander Jonathan O'Leary worked a 1-2-3 fifth inning to complete a school-record 13th shutout, surpassing the mark set by the 2003 staff.
Moustakas finished with three hits; Dominguez, Padre and Weissberg each had two, and freshman first baseman James Wharton had a double.
