Former Chancellors to Play in College Regionals

May 29, 2006

Former Chancellor teammates Jason Dominguez of host Pepperdine, and Justin Cassel and Bryan Petersen of UC Irvine could face each other this weekend when the Waves play host to an NCAA baseball regional at Malibu.

Pepperdine (40-19), seeded No. 1 in the regional, opens the double-elimination tournament against No. 4-seeded Missouri (31-25) on Friday at 3 p.m. No. 3 UC Irvine (36-22) meets No. 2 UCLA (32-23) at 11 a.m.

Another former Chancellor, Jared Halpert, is an outfielder at Fresno State (43-16), which opens action in the Cal State Fullerton regional Friday at 4 p.m. against San Diego (32-23).

All four were significant contributors to the Chatsworth program. For instance, Cassel and Dominguez were the top two starting pitchers on the 2003 national championship Chancellor team, and Petersen was an outfielder and closer. Halpert was an outfielder on the 2001 City Section championship club.
