LOS ANGELES -- Chancellor junior shortstop Mike Moustakas (pictured) was voted Los Angeles City Section player of the year Wednesday by a panel of sportswriters.

Moustakas is joined on the All-City first team by teammates Bobby Coyle, a junior outfielder; Matt Dominguez, a junior third baseman, and Trent Jones, a junior pitcher, and on the second team by Oscar Gutierrez, a senior second baseman.

Moustakas batted .427 and set a school season record this year with 14 home runs; Coyle batted .426; Dominguez had 10 home runs; Jones was 10-1 with a 1.44 earned-run average and Gutierrez batted a team-leading .434.

The Chancellors placed more players on the first team than any other school and tied with El Camino Real for the most overall.
