Senior Angel Rodriguez, right, threw a three-hitter and the host Chancellors (16-5, 6-1 West Valley League) assumed sole possession of first place in the league with a 4-0 victory over El Camino Real (13-12, 5-2) today.

 

Rodriguez (6-1) struck out nine batters and got all the help he needed when the Chancellors scored twice in the second inning, with outfielder Aaron Brown driving in one of the runs with a single.

 

Chatsworth picked up two insurance runs in the sixth inning on run-scoring singles by catcher Ricky Obando and shortstop Brady Conlan.

 

The teams meet again Friday at 3 p.m. at El Camino Real.

 

JV: The Chancellors beat host El Camino Real, 7-3.
