Chancellor shortstop Mike Moustakas (top photo) and third baseman Matt Dominguez (bottom photo), both juniors, have been invited to the USA Baseball junior national team trials in September in Atlanta.
They were among 32 players from a pool of 144 selected by USA Baseball after the week-long eight-team Tournament of Stars in Joplin, Mo., the first phase of the selection process.
Moustakas batted .333 with two doubles and a team-leading five runs batted in for the USA Stars, who won the silver medal. Dominguez batted .333 with one home run and a team-high seven RBIs for the American Legion squad that won the bronze medal.
After the national team trials, 18 players will be selected for the under-18 U.S. team that will participate in the International Baseball Federation's "AAA" World Championships in Cuba on Sept. 17-27.
