ATLANTA — Chancellor seniors Matt Dominguez (top photo) and Mike Moustakas (bottom photo) have been selected to the U.S. junior national baseball team that will participate in the world championships in Cuba from Sunday through Sept. 27.
The 18-player U.S. team opens play in Pool B on Monday against Chinese Taipei in Ciego de Avila. The U.S. defeated Chinese Taipei twice in exhibition games in the Atlanta region this week.
Dominguez will play third base and Moustakas will play first base and catcher. They were selected to the team after weeklong trials conducted by USA Baseball, which included intrasquad games and exhibition games. Thirty-two players were invited to the trials.
Chatsworth High is the only school to have more than one player selected to the team.
