Monday, March 5, 2007

CALABASAS — The Chancellors fell behind by four runs after the first inning and could not recover, losing to Calabasas, 12-8, today in an Easton tournament game.

It was the earliest defeat in a season for the Chancellors (2-1) since 1997, when they lost their first three games.

Five errors helped the Coyotes (3-0) jump ahead on the way to handing the Chancellors their worst loss since a 12-3 defeat to Carson in 2000.

Senior right fielder Bobby Coyle (top photo) hit a three-run home run for the Chancellors and senior third baseman Matt Dominguez (bottom photo, applying tag) had three hits.

The Chancellors continue play in the tournament Thursday.

JV: Sophomore shortstop Ryan Cooperstone, junior third baseman Mark Felshaw and sophomore center fielder Andrew Klausmeier hit consecutive triples in the bottom of the sixth inning to help lift the Chancellors (3-0) over Calabasas, 11-1.

Cooperstone also had a double in the game to support sophomore left-hander Jerry Lobert, who worked four innings for the victory with relief help from junior right-hander Cameron Milstein.
