LOS ANGELES--Senior shortstop Mike Moustakas (bottom photo) and senior right fielder Bobby Coyle (middle photo) each hit a home run to back up junior right-hander James Wharton (top photo) in Chatsworth's 5-1 nonleague victory over Kennedy tonight at USC.
Wharton (2-1) gave up one hit and a run in five innings before Moustakas struck out five in two innings to earn his second save in as many nights.
The Chancellors (5-2) scored in the bottom of the third inning on a double steal in which senior third baseman Matt Dominguez, who had singled to left field before advancing to second base on Coyle's walk and to third base on a wild pitch, slid around the catcher for a 1-0 lead.
Moustakas gave Chatsworth a 3-0 lead with a two-run home run to right field in the fourth inning, his sixth this season, and Coyle made it 4-1 with a home run to right field in the fifth inning. Kennedy (4-3), which had only one hit in the game, had scored in the fifth inning.
Sophomore second baseman Kasey Toven, who had walked, scored the final run for the Chancellors on an overthrow to third base by an outfielder in the sixth inning.
The Chancellors play host to Narbonne on Saturday at 11 a.m. in a Chatsworth tournament game.
