<font color="#f26100">Chancellors Gear Up for Semifinals</font>

THIS WEEK: The top-seeded Chatsworth varsity team continues its pursuit of a fifth consecutive appearance in the City Section title game by playing host to No. 4 Palisades on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The winner will advance to the championship game June 2 at Dodger Stadium at 4 p.m.
 
ABOUT CHATSWORTH: The Chancellors (28-4), seeded No. 1 in the City Section playoffs for the fifth consecutive year, are on a 15-game winning streak and are coming off an 8-1 victory over El Camino Real in a quarterfinal game of the playoffs on Friday … Chatsworth has reached the semifinals for seven consecutive seasons … The Chancellors hit three home runs against El Camino Real and have a school-record 74 this season, one shy of the state record shared by Chula Vista Eastlake in 1999 (30 games) and San Diego Rancho Bernardo in 2000 (33 games) ... The previous Chatsworth record was 49 in 2004 … This is the first time the Chancellors have had three batters with double-digit home runs in the same season ... Senior shortstop Mike Moustakas has 24, a state single-season record; senior right fielder Bobby Coyle has a career-high 14 and senior third baseman Matt Dominguez has a career-best 13 … They are the only three Chancellors to have hit more than 12 home runs in a season (Moustakas hit 14 in 2006) … Moustakas also owns the state record for career homers with 52 ... The Chancellors have reached at least 28 victories for four seasons in a row and 25 victories for 10 consecutive seasons ... They are aiming for the school’s fifth 30-win season and second in a row, all under Coach Tom Meusborn, whose record in the playoffs is 48-12 in 18 seasons with the Chancellors … From 2000 to the present, the Chancellors have won 23 Championship Division playoff games, more than any other team. Kennedy is second with 15 and El Camino Real is third with 14 ... The Chancellors won the WVL title for the fifth year in a row and 26th overall … It was their fifth unbeaten WVL season, with previous undefeated seasons coming in 1988, 2000, 2003 and 2004.
 
ABOUT PALISADES: The Dolphins are 23-9 overall and won the Western League title with a 15-0 record ... They have won five games in a row, including a 9-8 victory over No. 5 Roosevelt in the quarterfinals Friday … They are 10-6 on the road … The Dolphins are 2-4 against San Fernando Valley teams this year, the victories coming against Poly, 5-1, on March 17 and against Sylmar, 2-0, on May 23 in a first-round playoff game.
 
SERIES VERSUS PALISADES: Since 1980, the Chancellors are 5-2 against the Dolphins... The Chancellors won the last meeting between the teams, 5-4, in a playoff quarterfinal game May 20, 2005, at Chatsworth ... Chatsworth and Palisades are 2-2 in playoff games. The Chancellors lost to the Dolphins, 9-7, in 1982 and 9-8 in 1989, both in the semifinals, and beat the Dolphins, 11-0, in the second round in 1990.
 
COMMON OPPONENTS: The Chancellors were 9-2 and the Dolphins were 4-4 against common opponents this year … Chatsworth defeated Cleveland, 17-3, 11-10 and 16-3, and Palisades lost to Cleveland, 6-3 and 2-0; Chatsworth defeated El Camino Real, 3-2, 2-1, 7-1 and 8-1, and Palisades lost to El Camino Real, 10-8; Chatsworth lost to Narbonne, 5-4, and Palisades defeated Narbonne, 7-1; Chatsworth split with San Fernando, losing 6-1 and winning 9-2, and Palisades lost to San Fernando, 6-3; Chatsworth defeated Westchester, 13-0, and Palisades defeated Westchester, 6-0, 6-1 and 9-8.
