Saturday, June 9, 2007

Center fielder Nick Devian, pitcher Trent Jones and Coach Tom Meusborn will represent the Chancellors on the City Section squad that will take on a Southern Section team at an All-Star game for seniors tonight at 7 at Lake Balboa Birmingham High.

Devian, Chatsworth's leadoff batter, hit .410 with eight home runs and 37 runs batted in this season and was selected co-player of the game after getting two singles and making an outstanding catch in Chatsworth's 2-1 win over Cleveland in the City final. He was a first-team All-City selection.

Jones, a right-hander who will start tonight's game, was 15-0 with a 1.80 earned-run average this season and was selected the player of the tournament after winning two of Chatsworth's playoff games, including a complete-game performance in the final, and coming out of the bullpen in one. He was a first-team All-City selection.

Meusborn, in his 18th season at Chatsworth, led the Chancellors to a 30-4 record and their seventh City title, tying for most in City baseball. It was Meusborn's sixth City championship and fifth since 1999, and the fifth consecutive time the Chancellors appeared in the title game.
