<font color="#f26100">Chancellors Win League Opener, 13-1</font>

Junior outfielder Andy Weissberg hit his third home run this season, senior right-hander Trevor Takeyama (4-1) struck out five and the Chancellors defeated Taft, 13-1, today in a West Valley League opener for both teams called in the fifth inning because of the 10-run rule.
 
Chatsworth (9-3) travels to Woodland Hills on Friday to play Taft (4-7) at 3 p.m. in the second game of the home-and-home series.
 
Junior third baseman Ryan Cooperstone had two triples, including one with the bases loaded in the fifth inning that ended the game. Senior outfielder Patrick O’Connell led off the inning with a double and scored on junior designated hitter Shawn Meusborn’s single. Junior shortstop Kasey Toven followed with a single and junior Michael Renner had a run-scoring single to load the bases.
 
Weissberg had a run-scoring single in the first inning and then followed senior second baseman Matt Moreno’s double and Cooperstone’s single in the third inning with a home run to center field.
 
In the fourth, Meusborn and Toven had consecutive singles, Renner had a run-scoring grounder, Moreno doubled and Cooperstone tripled.
 
JV: Junior left-hander Noah Hershewe took a no-hitter into the fourth inning and sophomore left-hander Brett Voets pitched a scoreless inning of relief to lead the Chancellors at Taft, 10-0.
 
Sophomore first baseman Derek Neely collected three hits including a home run, and freshman designated hitter Steven Karkenny also had three hits for the Chancellors.
 
The Chancellors play host to Taft on Friday at 3:00 p.m
