Junior right-hander Ryan Cooperstone threw a three-hitter, sophomore designated hitter Derek Neely homered and the host Chancellors defeated San Fernando, 9-1, today in a Chatsworth tournament game.
Cooperstone (2-0) struck five without a walk to help the Chancellors improve to 15-4. He had three hits, including a run-scoring double in the third inning. All of the hits by the Tigers (7-11) came in the fourth inning.
Neely homered with Cooperstone on base in the second inning. Neely picked up another run batted in after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth inning.
Junior outfielder Andy Weissberg and senior outfielder Mark Felshaw also drove in runs for the Chancellors, who return to West Valley League play Wednesday against Cleveland at home at 3 p.m. That game will be televised on KLCS at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Frosh/Soph: The Chancellors rallied to beat El Camino Real, 9-8, after trailing, 8-0, to complete a sweep of the Conquistadores.
