The Chancellors continue pursuit of another City Section Championship Division title with a semifinal game against Kennedy today at 3 p.m. at Chatsworth.

 

ABOUT CHATSWORTH: The Chancellors (27-5), seeded No. 1 in the City Section playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, are on an 10-game winning streak and have won 18 of 19 games … The Chancellors have reached the semifinals eight consecutive seasons … Chatsworth is aiming to break a tie with Fremont and Kennedy for most City titles. Each has seven … Senior second baseman Matt Moreno, senior first baseman-pitcher James Wharton, junior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr., junior shortstop Kasey Toven and junior outfielder Andy Weissberg are looking to participate in their third City final at Dodger Stadium … Senior Trevor Takeyama has a 16-2 career record (two seasons) ... ABOUT KENNEDY: The No. 4-seeded Golden Cougars are 22-10 overall and were champions of the Valley Mission League with a 14-1 record ... They are coming off a 12-0 win over San Pedro in the second round and are on a seven-game winning streak.

 

SERIES VERSUS KENNEDY: Since 1980, the Chancellors are 26-17-1 against the Golden Cougars, including a 1-0 victory in a nonleague game March 13 at USC ... The Chancellors are 5-3 against the Golden Cougars in the playoffs.
