The Chancellors will be playing as the designated visiting team and occupy the first base dugout today at Dodger Stadium when they meet Narbonne at noon for the Los Angeles City Section Championship Division title.
ABOUT CHATSWORTH: The Chancellors (28-5), seeded No. 1 in the City Section playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, are on an 11-game winning streak and have won 19 of 20 games … Chatsworth is aiming to break a tie with Fremont and Kennedy for most City titles. Each has seven … Senior second baseman Matt Moreno, senior first baseman-pitcher James Wharton, junior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr., junior shortstop Kasey Toven and junior outfielder Andy Weissberg are looking to participate in their third City final at Dodger Stadium … Senior right-hander Trevor Takeyama (13-1) is tied for fourth place for most victories in a season by a Chatsworth pitcher … Takeyama has a 17-2 career record (two seasons) for an .895 winning percentage, the fourth best among Chatsworth pitchers with 16 decisions or more ... The Chancellors have reached at least 25 victories for 11 consecutive seasons … A victory would give the Chancellors at least 29 victories for six years in a row … From 2000 to the present, the Chancellors have won 28 Championship Division playoff games, more than any other team ... ABOUT NARBONNE: The No. 2-seeded Gauchos are 27-6 overall and were champions of the Marine League with a 13-2 record ... They are coming off a 7-4 win over No. 6 Cleveland in the semifinals and are on a nine-game winning streak.
SERIES VERSUS NARBONNE: Since 1980, the Chancellors are 3-2 against the Gauchos, including an 8-5 loss on April 19 in a Chatsworth tournament game ... The Chancellors are 2-0 against the Gauchos in the playoffs.
