The Chancellors are off and running with victories in their first two games of the season.
Chatsworth defeated visiting Burbank Burroughs, 9-6, on Friday in a first-round game of the Easton tournament and defeated host West Hills Chaminade, 8-2, today in a second-round game.
Against Burroughs, junior designated hitter Derek Neely hit a two-run home run and a two-run double to finish two for three with five runs batted in. Senior right fielder Andy Weissberg was three for three, including a run-scoring double, and finished with two RBIs.
Senior shortstop Kasey Toven was three for four, including a triple, and senior right-hander Ryan Cooperstone picked up the victory by working three perfect innings in relief.
Against Chaminade, senior left-hander Michael Renner went the distance and was three for three, all doubles.
The big blow came from senior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr., who delivered a pinch-hit grand slam in the fifth inning.
Weissberg was three for four with a double and three RBIs and senior center fielder Andrew Klausmeier had a double and a single.
The victories gave Coach Tom Meusborn, now in his 20th season with the Chancellors, 493 wins.
JV: The Chancellors defeated host Burroughs, 10-4, Friday with junior left-hander Brett Voets picking up the victory and lost to Chaminade, 4-3, today.
