LOS ANGELES -- Senior left-hander Michael Renner (right) went the distance and the Chancellors parlayed a nine-run third inning into an 11-0 nonleague victory over Bishop Amat tonight at USC's Dedeaux Field.
Renner (2-0) gave up five hits, struck out six batters and did not walk anyone. He got plenty of support as the Chancellors (5-1) got eight hits in the third inning, in which the first 11 batters reached base and all of the starters scored.
Senior right fielder Andy Weissberg had a run-scoring double in the inning and senior center fielder Andrew Klausmeier had a two-run double. Klausmeier finished with two doubles and a single and three runs batted in. Sophomore first baseman Steven Karkenny was three for three and scored a run.
It was victory No. 496 for Coach Tom Meusborn.
JV: The Chancellors lost to Bishop Amat, 2-1, at Chatsworth.
