Senior left-hander Michael Renner (right) struck out six and gave up three hits, and the host Chancellors defeated El Camino Real, 10-0, in six innings today in the West Valley League opener for both teams.
Renner (3-0) did not walk a batter in piecing together his second consecutive shutout to give Coach Meusborn his 499th victory.
Senior shortstop Kasey Toven was three for four, including two doubles, and drove in a run, and senior center fielder Andrew Klausmeier had two doubles and two runs batted in, including the clincher in the sixth inning. Sophomore right fielder Aaron Brown had two hits.
The teams play again Thursday at El Camino Real at 3 p.m.
JV: The Chancellors rode a nine-run seventh inning to beat host El Camino Real, 17-7.
Junior left-hander Brett Voets went the distance for the Chancellors to get the win.
Brady Conlan and Kevin Siegel each had two hits, including a triple apiece. Ricky Obando, Adam Baslow, Mark Fierro, Ryan Escobar and Ernesto Prado each had two hits.
