Senior designated hitter Andy Weissberg was four for four -- a home run and three doubles -- and the Chancellors defeated Birmingham, 13-2, in five innings in a West Valley League game at Chatsworth.
The Chancellors (12-1 overall, 4-0 in league play) had 13 hits to back senior right-hander Ryan Cooperstone (3-1), who struck out three and gave up three hits in four innings, and senior left-hander Noah Hershewe, who struck out one in a 1-2-3 inning.
Weissberg (right) finished with four runs batted in. He had run-scoring doubles in the first, second and fourth innings, and hit a drive over the net in left field in the third.
Cooperstone and senior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr. each hit a double, junior first baseman Derek Neely drove in two runs, senior second baseman Shawn Meusborn had a run-scoring single and senior shortstop Kasey Toven had two hits.
The Chancellors are off Saturday and head for Las Vegas for the Durango High tournament starting Monday.
JV: The Chancellors defeated Birmingham, 16-4, at Lake Balboa behind the pitching of right-hander Angel Rodriguez, who worked six innings.
Adam Baslow had three hits in an attack that featured several players with multiple hits.
