LAS VEGAS -- The Chancellors swept their final two games of the Las Vegas Durango tournament Wednesday, beating Las Vegas High, 8-3, and the host school, 9-5, to win the title.

Chatsworth (17-1) finished 5-0 in the three-day tournament.

Home runs powered the Chancellors against Las Vegas in the afternoon, with senior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr., senior outfielder Andrew Klausmeier (right) and senior outfielder Andy Weissberg each hitting a two-run shot to support a six-strikeout, complete-game effort from senior right-hander Ryan Cooperstone (5-1).

Escobar's home run was inside the park. He also had a double. Klausmeier had two other hits and finished with three runs batted in. Weissberg also had a single.

The Chancellors met Durango for the second time in the tournament and for the second time came out on top.

Sophomore left-hander David Lira struck out seven batters in 3-2/3 innings, senior right-hander Shawn Meusborn struck out five in 2-1/3 innings and Escobar struck out the side in his one inning on the mound to pick up the save.

Chatsworth pitchers struck out 31 Durango batters in the two seven-inning games.

Weissberg and junior designated hitter Derek Neely each had two doubles against Durango in the title game.

The Chancellors return to West Valley League play on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Cleveland.
