RESEDA -- The Chancellors suffered their first West Valley League loss and had a winning streak end at 15 games in a 3-2 loss at Cleveland today.
Chatsworth (17-2 overall, 4-1 in league play) and the Cavaliers (14-3, 5-0) meet again Thursday at Chatsworth at 3 p.m.
It was the first victory by Cleveland over Chatsworth since 2002.
An error allowed the Chancellors to tie the score, 1-1, in the fifth inning but they trailed, 2-1, in the sixth inning when senior third baseman Ryan Cooperstone led off with a single. Cooperstone moved to second base on a groundout and scored on a triple by junior designated hitter Derek Neely (right).
Chatsworth's senior left-hander Michael Renner (5-1) struck out five. Senior second baseman Shawn Meusborn had two hits, including a double.
JV: The game between host Chatsworth and Cleveland was called off in the second inning after the plate umpire was hit on a hand by a pitch and had to leave via ambulance.
