Senior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr. (top right) and junior first baseman Derek Neely each hit a home run and the Chancellors defeated Taft, 13-2, Friday in a West Valley League game at Chatsworth called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.
 
Senior right-hander Andrew Klausmeier (3-0) struck out five over three inning of relief to pick up the victory.
 
The Chancellors (23-2 overall, 9-1 in league play) will have a couple of days off before taking on El Camino on Monday, Birmingham on Wednesday and Cleveland on Friday. Today's Chatsworth tournament game against Santa Barbara has been postponed but a makeup date has not been determined.
 
Escobar's two-run home run, his fifth this season, came in the first inning and Neely's two-run home run, his fourth, came in the fourth. Neely finished with four runs batted in, giving him nine in two games against the Toreadors this week.
 
Senior shortstop Kasey Toven had three hits and senior right fielder Andy Weissberg had two hits, including a run-scoring double.
 
JV: Sophomore right-hander Angel Rodriguez (bottom right) pitched 5-2/3 innings and the Chancellors beat Taft, 7-0.
 
Freshman first baseman Kiefer Kofman hit a pinch-hit three-run home run, sophomore shortstop Chris Carlin had three hits, and freshman third baseman Ernesto Prado, sophomore right fielder Kevin Siegel and sophomore designated hitter Brady Conlan each had two hits.
