RESEDA -- Senior right-hander Andrew Klausmeier (right) struck out six over six innings and had a two-run single to lead the Chancellors past host Cleveland, 4-3, Friday and into a first-place tie with the Cavaliers in the West Valley League.

The victory gave Chatsworth (25-3 overall, 11-2 in league play) the head-to-head tiebreaker over Cleveland for playoff seeding purposes if the teams finish tied for first place in the league. Chatsworth beat Cleveland in two of three meetings. Each team has two league games remaining.

The Chancellors scored all of their runs in the fourth inning. Senior center fielder Michael Renner led off with a single and after an out, junior designated hitter Derek Neely was hit by a pitch. Senior catcher Carlos Escobar Jr. followed with a single that drove in Renner from second base.

With two out, senior third baseman Ryan Cooperstone drove in a run with a single and moved to second base on the throw home, putting runners at third base and second base. Klausmeier knocked them both in with a single.

Cooperstone struck out one in relief in the seventh inning and stranded the tying run at third base, which he inherited, with no one out, although it took senior shortstop Kasey Toven's outstanding diving stop of a line drive headed for center field to preserve the victory.
