Graduation Requirement
- 2 sequential years (4 sequential semesters) required in the same language. Some LOTE requirements may be satisfied through examination.
Languages offered:
Spanish Level 1, 2:The purposes of these courses are to develop a basic proficiency in communicating in the Spanish language according to the cultural practices of the countries and regions where Spanish is spoken: Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, the United States, and others.
Spanish Level 3 and advanced:
The purposes of these intermediate courses are to continue to develop increased proficiency in communicating in the Spanish language according to the cultural practices of the countries and regions where Spanish is spoken: Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, the United States, and others.
Spanish Speakers Level 1:
This course is intended to develop increased proficiency in communicating orally and in writing in Spanish according to the cultural practices of the countries and regions where Spanish is spoken: Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, the United States, and others. It is equivalent to Spanish 1AB and 2AB for non-heritage speakers.
Spanish Speakers Level 2:
This course continues to develop proficiency in communicating orally and in writing in Spanish according to the cultural practices of the countries and regions where Spanish is spoken: Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, the United States, and others. It focuses on the functions and content of Spanish 3AB for non-heritage speakers and includes readings in a variety of genres.
AP Spanish Language:
The A.P. Program is intended for those students who have chosen to continue developing their proficiency in all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course covers the equivalent of a third year college course in advance Spanish composition and conversation. Since the course empahsizes the use of Spanish for active communication, it is taught entirely in Spanish. It stresses oral and listening skills, written composition and reading comprehension. Students who enroll in this class, should already have a solid knowledge of the culture of the Spanish speaking people and they should have attained reasonable proficiency of the language verified by meeting the requirements of Spanish 2AB/ Spanish3AB .
French Level 1and 2:
The purposes of these courses are to develop both a basic proficiency in communicating in the French language according to the cultural practices of France and an awareness of the history, geography and cultures of francophone countries.
French Level 3 and advanced:
The purposes of these intermediate and advanced courses are to continue to develop increased proficiency in communicating in the French language according to the cultural practices of France and an increased awareness of the history, geography and cultures of the countries and regions where French is spoken.
Korean Level 1 and 2;
The purposes of these courses are to develop both a basic proficiency in communicating in the Korean language according to the cultural practices of North and South Korea and an awareness of their history, geography and cultural products.
Korean Level 3
The purposes of these intermediate and advanced courses are to continue to develop both a proficiency in communicating in the Korean language according to the cultural practices of North and South Korea and an increased awareness of their history, geography and cultural products.
