¡Bienvenidos a Español! Welcome to my Spanish class.  I am excited and looking forward to meeting each and every one of you this upcoming school year.  It is important that we work as a team, and we communicate with each other this year. I am eager for you to begin your learning journey and for you to start speaking “Español.”  

This year we will be using a new textbook called Encuentros.  We will be using the digital v-text and the Vista Higher Learning dashboard to work on online activities.   Together we will do daily practice activities that will consist of listening and communication activities in the target language.

I will expect everyone to try to communicate in Spanish when we work on the student centered activities.  These activities  will help you learn and acquire the language faster.  Don’t worry, I will guide you and I will be modeling the activities so that you will be able to understand.  

Most of the instruction will be given in the target language as guided by the New World Language Standards.  We will be working individually or in pairs with classmates via shared google docs. In this class, we will work as a team, so cooperation is very important. 

In an effort to ensure that every student becomes college and career ready, every lesson incorporates the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Standards and The New World Language Standards for Learning a Language. Every effort will be made to provide lessons that also meet the linguistic needs of our students who are learning English as a second language. Using a set of specific strategies and research-based approaches will provide language support and access to the material being taught.
