CIF City Titles - 2007
Saturday, June 2, 2007 Los Angeles City Section Champions An all-West Valley League matchup turned into a pitcher's duel, with Chatsworth's Trent Jones (15-0) rising to the occasion and lifting the top-seeded Chancellors over No. 6 Cleveland, 2-1, in front of about 3,500 at Dodger Stadium.
It was the fifth consecutive appearance in a City final for the Chancellors (30-4), who tied Fremont for most titles with seven. And it was Coach Tom Meusborn's sixth championship, tying him at the top of the all-time list with former Fremont coach Les Haserot. The Chancellors responded quickly after Cleveland (26-9) had scored in the top of the third inning on a one-out single by pitcher Mickey Brodsky (10-3). Senior center fielder Nick Devian doubled, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a grounder to the hole at shortstop by senior third baseman Matt Dominguez. Senior shortstop Mike Moustakas followed with a single, reached third base on a single by senior right fielder Bobby Coyle and scored on a balk. 2007 City Final Box Score
