A two-time All-City shortstop at Chatsworth High in the early 1980s, Larry Beinfest has progressed in the baseball world to become general manager of the Miami Marlins.
Beinfest is one of three active general managers to win a World Series within his first two seasons. The Marlins won the title in 2003, Beinfest’s second year in charge of the club.
Before joining the Marlins, Beinfest was with the Seattle Mariners from 1991 to 1999 as a member of the team’s minor league operations staff and eventually as an assistant to the general manager. He was assistant general manager of the Montreal Expos in 2000-01 and the club’s interim general manager after the 2001 season before being hired by the Marlins in February 2002.
