A concentrated effort by individual students and collective classes are essential for learning. Creating an environment where these characteristics are utilized to their maximum advantage is a special goal of teachers so that students can learn to their individual potentials. It is impossible to learn when discipline and attention are absent. Chatsworth High School has created a learning environment where students can be successful. Infrequently, situations arise in a classroom where the learning environment is disrupted due to emotional outbursts or other unforeseen circumstances and actions by the teacher are required to bring those circumstances back under control. It is in support of teachers in these situations that Chatsworth's staff created the referral room at Chatsworth High School. That referral room, commonly known as K78, is utilized in remediating these aberrant conditions in the following manner:
